The Empty Tomb: Do you need an appearance of Jesus in your life?
We are experiencing grief
Stages of Grief
Denial Anger Bargaining Sadness Acceptance
The Disciples went through this - We had hoped!!!
In this fallen word – in this current order of things we will have trouble
In me you may have peace, in this world you will have trouble.
But take heart. I have overcome the world John 16:33
John 20:19-21 and 24-29
He knew their emotional state was wildly fluctuating and he came into their presence and gave words of hope, of meaning, of encouragement
Words of Life!!
Jesus has words of blessing for you – not cursing
Words of comfort and compassion
Words of hope and new beginnings
The Disciples had gone through an emotional wringer
1. A state of mental agitation or disturbance
2. A mental state that arises spontaneously, rather than through conscious effort and is often accompanied by physiological changes
Unless I see! Thomas in 20:25
John 11:16 Die with Jesus Thomas
John 14:1-6 Investigating Thomas
John 20:19 Jesus - “Peace be with you”
What are you locked into? What am I locked into?
Philippians 4:6, 7
Do you need an Appearance of Jesus in your life?
Read the Psalms and write a personal Psalm
The psalms correspond to the ups and downs of our souls
The greatest juxtaposition might be Psalm 22 and Psalm 23
Psalms points out both views in life –
What is chasing you? What are you running from today?
Deliver me from…
What is it doing to me?
What does God think?
What attributes of God come to this situation?
What assurances do I have?
Better to spend one day in God’s presence than a thousand years somewhere else. Psalm 84:10
These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in His name!! John 20:29
Receive life in Jesus
